Welcome Students
If you are a student at the University of Kent, we want to extend a warm welcome to you.
We are a charismatic inclusive church based in Whitstable, full of wonderful imperfect people working out how the Christian faith is applied in the real world.
Our vision is to see the transformation of our coastlands through the goodness of Jesus. We welcome and serve people from a wide area including Faversham, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Canterbury, and Thanet.
When we get together, we want a real encounter with God and with each other, so we try to be loving, we try to be honest and we try to be family.
Although we are a little distance from Kent University, we believe that we have a calling to serve and equip students. Even if you’ve never been to church before, or you are maybe looking for a different expression of church, we would love to meet you.

How to get to us…
If you live in walking distance from the Kent Uni Campus, then we are very easy to get to. All you need to do is hop on the ‘BUS TRIA’ at stop B and stay on until you get to Swalecliffe (which is a 5-10 minute walk from Riverside). This bus comes every 20 minutes so don’t worry if you miss it!
If for any reason this is difficult, please get in touch and we will try to help you in any way we can.
Why we aren’t at Kent University ‘Church Search’
Sadly, because Riverside is an affirming church we are no longer welcome to take part in the Church Search organised by the Christian Union and UCCF.
But we believe that we need each other, with all our diversity and difference, to reflect the creativity, image, and joy of God. Because of this, we celebrate and affirm every person, not discriminating against anyone, in any way.
So, if you are a member of the LGBTQ+ community, please know there is a safe and friendly church family you can be part of while you study.
