Over the past few weeks we’ve been looking at how we are called as a church to bring new life to our coastland communities. In this sermon series we are looking at six keys areas :
Gather, Scatter, Serve, Share, Influence and Invite
Gather – we come together as church to celebrate all that God is doing. We welcome outsiders in and we equip insiders to go out.
Scatter – we take the love of Jesus to everyone, everywhere, every day. Our church is attractional and missional, gathered and scattered.
Serve – Jesus came as the servant King and we are called to serve the communities where God has placed us. We serve with His humility and authority as we seek to meet the longings in our towns.
Share – God has called us to grow in generosity and we seek to give away the love, grace and resources He has freely given us. Jesus said “freely you have received; freely give.”
Influence – Jesus told us we would bring salt and light to our communities. The Message puts it this way, “You’re here to be salt-seasoning that brings out the God-flavours of this earth. You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colours in the world…”
Invite – we are to invite everyone to an encounter with Jesus. We encourage people to “come and see” and discover the truth of the Gospel.
During this season, ask God is help you express church family in these different ways. Ask Him to show you where He is working and how you can partner in bringing His promised life to the coastlands.
“Let them give glory to the Lord and declare his praise in the coastlands.” Isaiah 42:12
