December Reflections

We concluded our recent Sunday series “Growing Room” by talking about Thanksgiving. We described it as a deliberate act that connects us to God, not only in gratitude, but also in trust. As followers of Jesus, we are Kingdom people. We are called to continually draw the future fullness of God’s presence into our present. Thanksgiving is a key part of this because it is a proactive assertion that our hope and trust is in God’s future for us and our community.

As we draw to the end of 2018, we have so much to look back and thank God for. We’ve seen people return to God and we’ve seen people discover the love of Jesus for the first time. We’ve also seen our compassion ministries grow and our impact on the community increase. God continues to bless us with favour and He meets with us powerfully when we gather.

As we look forward to 2019, we want to encourage you to thank God in faith for all the things we believe He is going to do. Thanksgiving precedes a release of Kingdom power upon the earth. Jesus gave thanks on the night before He went to the cross - the most powerful release of Kingdom power in history.

Let us follow the pattern of Jesus and lift our hands to God and begin to thank him now for all that he will do in 2019. Let’s thank Him that His love and transformation is coming to our coastlands. Let’s thanks Him for the lives He will change and the hope He will bring. We can also thank God that He has “good works prepared in advance for us to do…” (Ephesians 2:10) and that He has incredible things “prepared for those who love Him…” (1 Corinthians 2:9).

We pray your Christmas season will be full of His presence and His love.
